Product Description

Basmati has been reported to be in India since the 19th century. The Basmati rice is different from other rice due to its distinctive aroma and elongation post cooking. It is widely grown in North India and is called the ‘Champagne’ of India.
In Indian the Basmati Rice growing region is the foothills of Himalayan mountain ranges, where it has been cultivated for thousands of years. The other regions which yield quality Basmati Rice are the river basins of Yamuna and Sutluj rivers that irrigate Haryana and Punjab regions.
Basmati Rice is acknowledged as the ‘King of Rice’ and probably India has introduced it to the world. The long grains, subtle aroma and lingering taste of this rice is world renowned, but to obtain this qualities the rice has to be properly aged to totally reduce the moisture content in it. Its nature to elongate on cooking gives the cooked rice the characteristic long grain shape and substance.
